Shoot The Book! is a program created by SCELF (société civile des éditeurs de langue française), the Festival de Cannes, and the Marché du Film to connect publishers with producers from around the world and present titles with the strongest adaptation potential.

Every year, foreign publishers are invited to participate in order to present their catalogues to international producers. This gives publishers, agents and literary scouts the opportunity to ‘sell’ their projects and meet professionals from the audiovisual world during key events. All literary fields are covered, from children's literature to animation, and from documentaries to fiction.

There are two ways to participate: either by applying for a pitch session or by booking a table for B2B meetings, both options being available.
In the first case, publishers must apply and present a book title that they wish to sell for adaptation. An international jury meets in advance and selects eight projects (four national and four international). Publishers whose projects have been selected will present their work to an audience of producers in a few minutes. This sequence is a great showcase to make yourself and your catalogue known.
In the second case, the publisher reserves a table for the day: a B2B meeting platform will open a month in advance to schedule appointments. This option is more ‘practical’ but the number of tables is limited.

As a past participant in Shoot The Book!, SCELF would be delighted to welcome you back in 2026.

The program features two key highlights:

1. A pitching session (with selection by a jury of audiovisual professionals) held in the Press Conference Room of the Palais des Festivals
2. A full day of B2B meetings at the heart of the Marché du Film

How to participate in the two Cannes highlights dedicated to book-to-screen adaptation?
