Philologist, Hellenist, philosopher and a member of the French Academy, Barbara Cassin has published numerous books, including Éloge de la traduction (In praise of translation), published in 2016. She edited the Dictionary of Untranslatables, first published in French in 2004. An emeritus research director at the CNRS and a leading figure in contemporary French philosophy, she was awarded the Grand Prize of Philosophy of the Académie française in 2012 for her entire body of work. In recent years she has been teaching seminars and writing books in partnership with Alain Badiou.
