guilt

Oscar is dead because I watched him die, without moving an inch. He died strangled by the ropes of a swing. And so begins this short and intense novel, which recounts the last day of 17-year-old Leo in a sun-drenched campsite located in the Landes, the South-West of France.

The narrator is unable to explain this irreparable act to himself. Is doing nothing the same as active murder? In a panic, he buries the body on the beach. The day after, while expecting to be discovered at any moment, he meets a girl.

This novel is the story of a teenager estranged from the world that surrounds him, a teen who doesn't know how to play the game by the rules, that of seduction, parties, holidays, and who objects to - passively but with all his being - the call to happiness blared from the campsite's loudspeakers.
